Museum Skanderborg
Platform 1 is a transformation of a 1980s post office located at Skanderborg train station into a new City Museum. The new museum will join its collection and the local archive with an archaeological workshop, larger exhibition space and a new communal space for the city.
We were commissioned to provide a feasibility study and strategic plan for the transformation. Our proposal suggests the museum as the new ‘waiting room’ for a spread town and opening up the archaeological workshop and main galleries to a wider audience. We explored retrofit and circulation options and proposed a new extension acting as the ‘waiting room’ on the inside and billboard for commuters on the outside.
We conducted a series of work sessions with the client team exploring the museums new vision. Imaginations Cross Cultures organised and ran a winter school pro-bono with young people over 10 days at the disused post office as an alternative form of community engagement.
